what are dental Veneers?
ACE Dental of Bellmead is excited to offer porcelain and resin dental veneers to patients who wish to improve minor cosmetic imperfections, such as small gaps, chips, cracks, and stains. Veneers are essentially thin, tooth-colored caps that are fused to the surface of anterior teeth. These dental restorations can provide a more unified and symmetrical aesthetic to your smile so you can show off your pearly whites with confidence. If you want to address the overall shape, size, length, and color of your front teeth, reach out to our dental office in Bellmead, TX to learn more about custom-made dental veneers and how they can help you achieve the look you desire.
Who Is a good Candidate for Veneers?
Dental veneers are often a great treatment option for men and women who wish to enhance the overall cosmetic of their smile. Porcelain and resin veneers can strategically hide chips, unsightly discoloration, and tiny cracks. They are also ideal for providing a more natural shape and spacing to mildly crooked or misshaped teeth. Veneers are carefully customized to achieve optimal dental contours and usually crafted in pairs to attain a seamless smile. These cosmetic restorations typically thrive best in a healthy environment, which is why patients should be free of gum disease, cavities, and not suffer from habitual teeth grinding (bruxism).
How Are Cosmetic Veneers Placed?
Resin or chairside veneers are crafted at our office and placed in the same day. To start, we will prep the teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel from the front teeth. Then, a composite resin will be mixed to match the natural color of your teeth and molded onto your enamel to achieve an attractive shape. Once the material has hardened, it will be carefully crafted and polished for a seamless feel and finish.
Porcelain veneers are created in a dental lab and will require two dental visits to our office. During your initial exam, we will remove the very top layer of enamel and take dental impressions with our iTero intraoral scanner. These digital images will be sent over to a specialized dental lab where your custom porcelain veneers will be crafted. Before you leave, temporary veneers will be placed. After about 1 – 2 weeks, we'll have you return to our office to remove your substitute veneers and bond your porcelain coverings.
how to Care for Your Restorations
After your veneers are placed, you can expect to experience mild sensitivity to hot or cold foods, but this is temporary and will dissipate over the next few days. While dental veneers tend to be a bit more resistant to stains and tooth decay, they should be cared for just like your natural teeth with routine brushing and flossing. We also encourage patients to be mindful of how often they consume foods and drinks that may stain their teeth. To help protect your veneers from chipping, you should do your best to avoid hard candies and chewing on hard objects, like pens. Maintaining biannual dental exams will also enable us to monitor the condition of your veneers and underlying teeth for long-term oral health.
Will Insurance Cover Veneers?
Since dental veneers are considered an elective treatment, they are generally not covered by dental insurance. At ACE Dental of Bellmead, we accept a wide variety of payment options, including most major credit cards and can also provide information on low-interest medical financing. Our caring team will help you in finding the right financial solution for you and your budget so you can enjoy your best smile yet.
